50/50 Martini

The Martini is, hands down the most iconic cocktail. Simple yet elegant with endless variations and a storied past. Early recipes often call for a dash or two of orange bitters and of course, being a bitters company and all, our recipe embraces this early variant. In contrast to the relationship between whiskey and sweet vermouth in a Manhattan, which is necessarily bound by bitters, the gin and dry vermouth of a martini is not reliant on bitters in the same way. However, the addition of bitters, most commonly orange, will bridge together the various aromatics already present, adding a layer of complexity to a wonderfully predictable drink. This variant, called a 50/50 because it uses equal parts dry vermouth and spirit celebrates both ingredients equally, making for an incredibly drinkable martini.
